The Bark River Hudson Bay II is BRKT's take on a legendary camp knife that is not only desirable as a collector's piece but also has a serious weight forward chopping/slicing machine! This brute of a blade measures an impressive 14.625" overall with a 9" blade (.200" thick) made of durable A-2 Tool steel heat treated to perfection and hardened to 58-60 HRC Rockwell for maximum performance. Hearkening back to a day when men's lives relied upon a quality knife, the Hudson Bay II is designed to quickly and easily slice, dice, and prep food, baton wood, make feathersticks, chop brush or even fill in for a cleaver.
This Bark River camp knife was named after the legendary Hudson Bay Company, the premier purveyor of goods to settlers, woodsmen, and colonists. A rich leather sheath is included. Proudly made in the USA. Based on the size of the knife the Handi Scandi makes a great compliment to this package.
The Bark River Hudson Bay II knife I received is well-executed with a simple, even grind; a tight fit between blade and bolsters; and a well-shaped, comfortable handle. The brass bolsters needed a bit of polishing, but that was a joy. The sheath is serviceable; I use Obenauf's to protect the leather.
As always, DLT Trading sales and service is impeccable..

If you only had one knife to make a living in the North American wilderness, this would be a good choice. If you are a history buff, and like tradition this is another good choice. The Hudson Bay Camp Knife is grand daddy of the Bowie knife....so, you can baton through a deer's pelvis, make kindling, chop meat, onions, and defend yourself all with one knife. BRKT does an outstanding job with this knife as a working reproduction of this historic knife.
