Olamic Cutlery
Olamic Cutlery was founded on November 10, 2010 by Eugene Solomonik and his father Ilya, a family that learned the value of a knife in Russia's wild northwestern region of Karelia, where Eugene was navigating rapids and surviving the backcountry by age ten. The company began with hand-forged Damascus fixed blades made in the family's Russian workshop, and when it expanded into American-made folders in 2013, it recruited ABS Master Smith Michael Vagnino and built a facility around him in Visalia, California. The name comes from an old word meaning something that lasts through eternity, which is why the logo is an infinity symbol.
Never The Same
Olamic's motto is two words that function as a manufacturing policy: Never The Same. Every knife is built one at a time from a combinatorial arsenal of finishes, anodizing, hand texturing, and decorative machining that puts the possible builds in the millions, so even within a single model run, no two knives match. The custom side, built entirely without CNC, produced the Wayfarer Classic, the Rainmaker, and one-off art pieces, while the Olamic fixed blades carry the family's original hand-forged High Carbon Vanadium Damascus tradition forward.
The Wayfarer 247 and Midtech Line
The Wayfarer 247 launched Olamic's midtech line in 2016: parts machined by outside shops, then hand finished, fitted, and customized in the same Visalia facility that builds the customs, delivering custom-rivaling fit and finish at a friendlier price. The family grew from there with the larger Swish, the curvaceous tactical Soloist, and the Aura, each released in an endless parade of finishes with names like Acid Rain, Molten, and Seabed that collectors track like weather systems.
The Busker and WhipperSnapper Front Flippers
The Busker brought Olamic's flair to compact EDC, a front flipper in Bohler M390 that can reportedly be opened at least ten different ways, offered in Semper, Largo, and Gusto blade profiles. Its success spawned the WhipperSnapper, designed by Russian designer Andrei Kolesnikov and debuted at Blade Show 2019. Every Olamic ships serialized with a lifetime warranty and lifetime spa service, because a knife named for eternity should be supported like it.
