Bark River Scandi Knife

The Bark River Scandi knife was a joint collaboration between DLT Trading and BRKT knife maker Mike Stewart. This joint project was built on the premise of creating the toughest, hardest-working production Scandi / Scandinavian knife on the market. In keeping with what Bark River Knives are famous for, this knife is offered in a huge array of custom handles as well as synthetics such as G-10 and Micarta.

First and foremost, this Scandi had to cut and perform under rigorous conditions and hard daily use. To accomplish this, 3V super tool steel was selected. Sharpened to a hair popping convex razor edge, 3V steel is amazingly tough with excellent edge retention all while maintaining very good stain resistance for a non-stainless steel. A convex Scandi edge differs from the standard Scandinavian edge in that the secondary bevel is not flat ground but rather convexed. Why might you ask? It is because this edge allows for a much tougher edge than the flat ground version enabling the knife to hold up to the North American hardwoods which are much harder than the pines and birches of Norway, Sweden and Finland (Scandinavia).

Aesthetically, the Bark River version is better looking than any production Scandi on the market and as good as many customs costing hundreds more. Keeping true to tradition, Reindeer antler, curly (masur) birch, and stacked leather handles are all available.
