The Australian gum burl handle with the red liners look and feel great in the hand! But I haven't had this knife long enough to give it a thorough review yet.

Love the knife, just a couple imperfections though, the grind is a little messed up at the back and the red liners are not flat on one side, looks like there was dirt or something on the knife when they put the scales on so the liners dident sit proper, i might just be really picky lol but who wouldent spending that type of money on a knife lol still my favorite knife though

Knife and sheath presents well, not sharp at all, dissaponited as I heard good things about Bark River. This is the first Bark River I purchased, not sure if I will buy anymore.

I was surprised to grip Ergonomics Handle as a first impression. I like this handle as much as Aurora Handle and Desert Ironwood is beautiful. My Bushcrafter is full-height grind, it is very sharp out of the box. I removed very small micro bevel by sandpaper and stropped by black and white compound. The blade is awesome after stropping. I love this knife very much.

Did you know that Bark River Knives (BRK) are 100% Made in the USA? That includes the steel, the handle, the hardware and even the BOX that they ship the knife to you in. Heck yeah! That made me feel good about purchasing it, because I know I am helping to employ my neighbors and friends right here in the USA. Truly, this bushcrafter is the finest quality knife I have ever held in my hand. A great value considering its features. Buy it knowing it is made in the USA and if you do your part it will last you your entire life and probably several more once you pass it down. Knives from BRK have a Lifetime Warranty.
Like many of you, I have spent lots of time in alpine forests and being outdoors is my passion. I am an old Eagle Scout and was in Mountain Rescue. I have taken this knife through the bushcraft wringer on several backpack outings here in Colorado and it has performed flawlessly. Still doesn't need sharpening. It came scary sharp right out of the box. No worries about rust with CPM3V Steel in the snowy/rainy alpine.
As far as I am concerned, this is the best backpacking and bushcraft knife ever made and I do not take that claim lightly. I have several other fine outdoor knives. However, the various subtle revisions that were made to the earlier (standard) bushcraft style design amount to a huge improvement in performance. These include: A scary sharp and sturdy scandivex edge which is a no-brainer to sharpen (easier to sharpen in the field than a regular scandi edge in my experience), CPM3V "Super" Steel that won't rust easily, a slightly larger belly in the blade for processing fish and game, a very comfortable handle shape for all grip styles, a sharp spine for throwing a shower of sparks from a firesteel, etc. Other features include a thick, beautifully-made, hand-crafted leather sheath with a firesteel loop. Options include your choice of handle materials and jimping on the spine. I opted for a smooth spine and basic black canvas micarta scales on mine and I like it. Nice grip due to the geometry and canvas micarta.
These are not cheap, but you get a ton of value out of this knife and sheath, especially if you know what you are doing. Not to mention, it is just plain beautiful and feels great in the hand even after lots of work. It actually increases my enjoyment when I finally get out to the forest. I never thought I would spend this much on a knife, but I am very glad I did. I now see the difference and I am already looking to buy another Bark River Knife.
I used to feel bad we couldn't get a decent bushcraft knife here in the US. It seemed all of the makers were in the UK. No longer. Sorry to our brothers in the UK. Respectfully, I believe Bark River Knives has surpassed earlier bushcraft designs with the introduction of this blade. It is a game changer. You are going to love being in the field with this bushcrafter.
Note: If you are new to the outdoors or bushcraft, please do not buy a Chinese made "Bushcrap" knife, no matter who the knife maker is. If you see CHINA stamped on the side, RUN AWAY. Spend your money wisely and get yourself something decent, that is, a knife that is actually made in the U.S. or the U.K. It will save you time and money in the long run. There are lots of options, and Bark River Knives is a great place to start.
*For all of you Eagle Scouts out there, this one is a must have.
