Building on the highly successful larger version, the Bark River Mini Aurora takes one of BRKT’s best sellers and sizes it for a wider variety of applications. The Aurora has long been a favorite at DLT but the size oftentimes was just a little too large. Aiming to please, Bark River designed the Mini Aurora. These mini knives are a perfect companion for day hikes, camping or lighter bushcrafting tasks. (In a two knife setup for bushcraft this knife would be a perfect companion knife.) Did we mention the handle is based on the full size Aurora which is arguably BRKT’s most comfortable handle?
At 7.65” overall with a 3.675” blade made of CPM 3V, you will be amazed at what this awesome knife can do in the field. After a day in the woods, it makes a great prep knife in the kitchen as well and has very good cutting geometry at .130” thick (3.75 ounces in weight). Built like a tank right here in the US the Bark River Mini Aurora should have serious consideration for your next knife! Includes a leather carry sheath and is covered by a lifetime warranty.
Fast delivery to Europe. The mini Aurora is my new Favorite EDC Knife. Perfect for Kitchen, Bushcraft and everyday. My new Love.

BRKT's new mini-Aurora is a 5 out of 5 for me. The size, handle and blade profile, and CPM-3V steel all make this a great user. The sheath is a larger version of the mini-Fox River crossdraw sheath and it works well in a crossdraw carry. DLT's customer service and shipping were fast and first-rate, as always. I've purchased from them 7 or 8 times now and every one of the transactions was flawless. I had questions about the mini-Aurora before I bought it and they were very helpful over the phone when I called. I recommend DLT and Bark River very highly to anyone interested in great knives and outstanding customer service.
I will sum up my post here with two key things :
#1 RESPECT !
#2 Next level
More on these later
Long ! I deem it worth it.
**I advance, I do not work for,get paid by or get anything free from Bark River or DLT. I do not review for a living.
I do not collect.
I hope I am not over-stepping here :
I have talked to the owner of BRK 2-3 times. Mike is a great guy.People throw this term around. It's just words to them. This guy came from a humble start and started BRK from nothing and became a giant in the knife world. Respect.
BRK goes the extra mile in all ways. Respect, next level service.
I will not put any other MFG on blast. I have had many other knives in my life with some type of "backup" incase of breakage or whatever.
Many MFG went out of business. Many ask 75 questions and suddenly "you don’t qualify for a fix or replacement" Or it takes phone tag for weeks/months and or 20-50 emails. Long turn-around. Often some sneaky fee. As for BRK, any problem, any issues,no hassle, no phone tag,no BS. They just fix/replace/make it right, period. Respect, next level service.
Perhaps a grind is not what is best for your use. BRK will regrind it ,no hassle.Respect, next level. Nobody in the knife game does this ! Perhaps a handle contour is not best for your use or hand size/shape. They re do it to your specs ! Respect, next level ! Nobody else does this! It is done quickly, perfect work, and the kicker folks...all of the above FREE! Are you kidding me? who else does this? Respect, next level
Mike is a true American and one of the best people I have ever met.If you are down, he will help you.He will never talk about this to most as he is humble. Giving people jobs, moving them 1000's of miles helping small knife makers. I can go on for an hour, after all this is about knives.
Mike if you read this, Respect. You are a next level business owner, father, grandpa, knife history jedi and knife maker. Next level human. Wish we had more like you. Same can be said for his family and all the workers. Run for POTUS !
I have a few Bark River tools now. I use them in the Corps, at home "edc" and while under contract teaching "preppers" whatever they want to know at any given time.
BRK convex are the best you can buy. Mike swears people do this by hand. I think it is done by machines/robots. Next level, respect to his crafters
They come scary sharp every time. Perfect.Somebody must strop these by hand. Next level, respect. (roughly 75-90% of knives I got new came un-sharp or done badly)
IMHO best HT/Cryo in the knife game. Who else tripple HTs? Nobody. Respect, next level
Great handles, shiney, pretty, works of art. They don’t have to do this, but take the time to go the extra mile. Respect, next level.
As for this exact knife:
Mini Aurora 3v full height grind
After using countless small-ish/neck/edc knifes. IMHO this is the best bushcraft,EDC,neck and small, hard use knife, ever. Personally I no longer carry a folder. Just a neck knife under my shirt , when at home. I find most neck knifes too short. Again a personal thing.1-2.5 inches is just not enough for a legit EDC, IMHO.3" is ok for me 50% of the time, not always. 3.7 is just perfect.
Handle on this knife is short and small but just enough ,to be enough.Typical HQ BRK curvey ergos that are fantastic. Fit and finish are as good as you get. Respect, next level. **I have med/large hands. If you have huge Bigfoot hands you may need BKR to custom handle to your specs.
This full height grind for me is just outstanding. Thick enough for small baton work for fire making. Wedge is just enough.Next level. What you gain is amazing slicing ability.Next level
I think all of these knives should come FHG. Had mine modified to personal specs. Will be a fantastic duty/defence knife also.
Steel: CPM 3v with perhaps the best HT in the knife world.Next level
Shape of the blade is perfect for all I have used it for. Due to perfect convex, assuming nothing stupid goes on: You will never sharpen this knife. Just strop now and again. Next, next level
I taught 4 bushcraft classes, 10+ hours in the woods as my only knife. 10 or so hours teaching preppers various skills.EDC it at home. I carved, batoned, drilled hard. Got meat out of a deer and quite a few fish. All food prep. Tent pegs. Dug 2 splinters out. Tip is quite pointy, yet strong. Made a bowl,spoon.Traps.
The way this FHG glides over wood / bumps is just amazing.( why are'nt all knives convex?)
Edge retention of this 3v is outstanding. Next level.
I have a small strop I made. 2 sides,I keep in a waterproof zippy bag. Each Day I strop for 30 sec. Green side then just leather. Scarey sharp in 1 min. Next level. Honestly I don’t think I ever dulled it.
No chips / no rolls. Next level
Steel 10 /10
Ergos 10 /10 *if not they will make it so,to your specs
Design 10 /10
Blade 10 /10
FHG convex 10 /10
Fit /finish 10 /10
The way BRK backs up tools they make 10 /10
Personally I would spend a bit more for a 100% designed and made American tool. No less, good people like the BRK team.
I am not a BRK groupie. I use what works, best.
Should you buy this knife? Yes
Will you have regrets NO
Is it expensive? Yes. Worth it.? Yes .Save up if needed.
I know of no better knife in this size range for any price.
Drop me off via a helo in woods anywhere. Give me a compass, map and this knife. I will be just fine
This and perhaps a Bravo III or Senegal are all you need for the woods / prepping.
TY BRK team for making this amazing tool. I will use it for a lifetime, then hand it down.
All aspects of BRT are next level !
All said and done I rate this knife a 11 / 10.Yea its that damn good.
