Dan Peters Custom Knives began in 2010, after a deployment to Afghanistan convinced an active-duty Army soldier that his knifemaking hobby deserved to become a business. Peters remains on active duty today, building knives from his current posting in El Paso, Texas with his sons occasionally helping on surface grinding, and a member of the Knifemakers Guild since 2013. The pedigree is combat-literal: many of his blades have been put through their paces by top tier Special Operations units, battle tested and held up tried and true.
Our selection features the Talon, a slender spear-point fixed blade in CPM 3V tool steel heat treated to 60-61 HRC and finished in black DLC, one of the toughest working chemistries made, covered in our knife steel guide. Full-tang construction wears black micarta scales with green or red accents, pinned with tubing that doubles as a lanyard point, and every knife ships with a high-quality leather sheath.
Because Peters still serves, output is genuinely limited: his wider catalog of Spartans, Bushcrafts, Bird and Trouts, and tactical models runs on custom wait times measured in months, which makes in-stock pieces here the shortcut past the line. These are soldier-built working knives from our custom shop tier, made by a maker whose customers include the people whose lives depend on their gear, and they move accordingly.
