Cold Steel offers two distinct karambit designs. The Steel Tiger is a fixed blade collaboration between Lynn Thompson and the late custom knifemaker Steven Likarich—a 4.75-inch AUS-8A blade with deeply curved geometry and a needle-sharp tip. The Griv-Ex/Kray-Ex handle provides secure grip, and the integrated finger ring keeps the knife locked in place. Available in multiple color configurations, each ships with a Secure-Ex sheath. The Tiger Claw is Andrew Demko's folding interpretation, blending karambit slashing capability with hawkbill utility. Built on S35VN steel with G-10 handles and Cold Steel's Tri-Ad lock, it's available in plain or serrated edge configurations. Demko's patented thumb-plate allows ambidextrous deployment in either saber or traditional blade-down grip.
The karambit originated in Southeast Asia as a curved, claw-like blade designed for close-quarters defense. The hook shape and finger ring make it nearly impossible to disarm, while the inward curve delivers effective slashing cuts with minimal effort. It's a specialized tool—not a general-purpose knife, but for personal defense, few designs match its retention and cutting geometry.
