Fallkniven S1 Knives
The Fallkniven S1 sits between the compact F1 pilot knife and the full-size A1, filling the role of a dedicated forest knife and bushcraft blade. Approved for US Navy and Marine Corps aircrew use alongside the F1 in 2000, the S1 offers additional blade length for camp chores while remaining practical for detailed work.
Mid-Size Versatility
The 5.1-inch blade handles tasks that push the limits of shorter survival knives—batoning firewood, processing game, building shelter components. The modified clip-point profile and convex grind provide control during finer carving work without sacrificing the strength needed for heavier cuts. At 5mm thick, the blade balances cutting efficiency against impact resistance.
Laminated Steel Construction
Like all Fallkniven fixed blades, the S1 uses three-layer laminate construction with a VG10 core sandwiched between 420J2 outer layers. Hattori applies the convex grind by hand in Seki City, creating an edge that bites into wood with minimal resistance. The Thermorun handle insulates against cold and maintains grip in wet conditions—practical considerations for extended use in Nordic climates.
