The LionSteel Barlow series launched in 2017 as the CK01 — a collaboration with CollectorKnives built around a question worth asking: what does a Barlow look like when you spec it with M390 steel, titanium bolsters and liners, a stop pin, and fully radiused edges throughout? The answer landed well. The Roundhead debuted to strong demand, and LionSteel expanded the series into three distinct blade patterns that collectively cover the range of what traditional knife buyers actually reach for.
The underlying platform is consistent across all three patterns. Blade steel is M390 at 59-60 HRC in a satin finish. Bolsters and liners are 6Al4V titanium, keeping weight to 2.29 oz for single-blade variants — competitive with production traditionals running far more modest materials. The backspring runs a smooth slip joint with a half-stop for safety. All hardware is Torx-retained rather than pinned, which allows for full disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly — a detail the traditional knife community has consistently called out as a genuine functional advantage over traditional pinned construction. Every edge on the handle and bolster interface is fully radiused, eliminating the sharp corners common in production Barlows.
Choosing Your Pattern
The Roundhead carries a spear point blade — the original CK01 pattern and the one that established the series. It's the most neutral blade geometry of the three, suited to a wide range of EDC tasks without committing heavily to any one use case. The Shuffler runs a clip point, adding tip definition and a light swedge for more precise work. The Dom features a sheepsfoot blade, which is the strongest choice for controlled utility cuts where tip exposure isn't needed. For buyers who want a two-blade configuration, LionSteel also offers a multi-blade Barlow pairing a Wharncliffe with the Shuffler clip point — a combination that covers both fine detail work and general cutting on a single knife.
Handle Options
All patterns are available in green canvas micarta, natural micarta, olive wood, santos wood, carbon fiber, and ram horn. Ram horn in particular varies naturally from piece to piece, making each knife visually distinct.
