Bastinelli Dragotac
The Dragotac is the design that made Bastinelli's name, and the family that grew out of it now covers more ground than any other line the brand makes. Bastinelli Creations founder Bastien Coves took a simple wharncliffe profile and built an entire lineage around it, from lockless piemontese folders to full framelock hard use knives, all produced in Italy. If you learn one Bastinelli silhouette, this is the one.
Big Dragotac and D Vil Mini Dragotac Framelocks
The modern core of the family runs titanium framelocks with serious hardware behind them. The Big Dragotac stretches the pattern to a 4.75 inch M390 wharncliffe riding an IKBS pivot, built by LionSteel with a tungsten glass breaker in the pommel, and it fills the hand like a fixed blade that happens to fold. The D Vil Mini Dragotac shrinks the same M390 blade shape to three inches for a lighter pocket, while the standard Dragotac splits the difference with a 3.63 inch D2 blade, thumb stud deployment, and the same glass breaker insurance. All three wear 3D machined G-10 over titanium, grippy where you hold it and slick where you don't.
BB Drago and Dragotac Slim Friction Folders
The other side of the family honors where the design came from. The Dragotac Slim is a true piemontese friction folder, three inches of satin N690 held open by nothing but the extended tang under your thumb, dressed in ziricote wood and weighing barely an ounce. The BB Drago carries the same lockless philosophy in FRN and ziricote at an even smaller size, and its fixed blade siblings compress the wharncliffe down to a two inch micarta handled workhorse that rides a Kydex sheath on belt or lanyard, rounding out a family that shows the full range of Bastinelli knives in one silhouette. Dragotac Steel Choices and Handle Materials
Steel tracks the mission across the family: M390 on the premium framelocks, D2 where toughness per dollar matters, and N690 on the slim carries, all compared in our breakdown of every major knife steel.
