The Kepsu is one of the newest patterns from Battle Horse Knives, and the name tells you the recipe: a Kephart blade on the handle of the brand's Sisu, its take on the Finnish puukko. Kep plus Su. It puts Horace Kephart's century old camp blade, the plain centered spear point he made famous in Camping and Woodcraft, onto 3.75 inches of scandi ground O1 at 8.5 inches overall, full tang, 7.1 ounces, with a lanyard hole and a brown leather belt sheath.

Kephart's argument was that a camp knife needs no drama: a simple, nearly symmetrical point that slices, dresses game, and works wood without specializing, and a hundred years of copies have proven him right. Battle Horse's version keeps that plainness honest and pairs it with the Sisu's hand filling grip, canvas micarta in green, black, or natural matte over a 4.75 inch handle. Alongside the Camp Muk, the brand's nod to Nessmuk, it gives this catalog both bylines of classic American woodcraft. It is also one of the youngest patterns in the lineup, which for the pattern collectors is half the appeal. Handmade in Cambridge, Ohio.
