The Trail Hawk is the Battle Horse Knives catalog's one departure from the knife rack: a full tang tomahawk with canvas micarta scales, 13.625 inches long with a 3.625 inch cutting edge and 27.4 ounces of chopping weight behind it. The steel departs from the house habit too. The head is 4140 chromoly, chosen for the impact toughness a striking tool demands over the fine edge a carving blade holds.

Battle Horse says the design was tested and revised repeatedly until it pulled real weight across camp chores, and the balance is the result: a handle profile that swings full grip for chopping and splitting, then chokes up under the head for carving, feather sticking, and striking a ferro rod. DLT stocks it four ways, black or green canvas micarta with a Kydex sheath plus grooved scale versions of both colors.
