The Benchmade Immunity started with a request from federal employees who needed a real knife with a blade under 2.5 inches for the buildings they work in. Benchmade designed it entirely during the pandemic, and the answer is a 2.49 inch CPM M4 Wharncliffe on .09 inch stock, 5.94 inches open and 3.46 closed, in billet aluminum. It is small enough for a suit pocket or running shorts and tough enough for daily work. Every Immunity is made in the USA and backed by Benchmade lifetime LifeSharp service.
The manual Full Immunity opens on ambidextrous thumb studs and locks on the AXIS Lock, which releases from either side with a pull of the bar. At about 2.29 ounces, it is the lighter of the two. An included lanyard extends the short handle so your whole hand gets purchase.
The Auto Immunity puts the same blade and frame on an AXIS automatic. Pull the bar and the blade fires open, and the same bar closes it one handed. It is for carriers who want the fastest possible deployment from a knife this small. See more one-hand autos in our side opening automatic knives.
The clipped Wharncliffe keeps a straight edge all the way to a needle-fine point, focusing cutting force at the tip for precise work and for defense. CPM M4 is a high speed tool steel run at 62 to 64 HRC, pairing serious edge retention with toughness. Because it is not stainless, Benchmade coats every blade in cobalt black Cerakote, and a quick wipe after wet use keeps it clean. Both models come in Crater Blue, Flat Dark Earth, and Woodland Green aluminum. Our comparison of every major knife steel explains M4 in depth.
