The Benchmade Meatcrafter is a hybrid fixed blade built for the work that happens after the shot: trimming, deboning, and slicing, first in the field and then at the grill. Launched in 2021, it runs a thin trailing point blade on .090 inch stock with engineered flex that sits between a boning knife and a fillet knife, stiff enough to work around joints yet able to follow bone. Every Meatcrafter is made in the USA and backed by Benchmade lifetime LifeSharp service.
SelectEdge is Benchmade's ultra fine edge: 14 degrees per side, for about 28 degrees inclusive, compared to the thicker edges on most hunting knives. That thin edge glides through meat and silver skin instead of tearing it, which makes clean steaks and trimmed backstraps easier. The tradeoff is that it wants a cutting board or bone as a guide rather than prying. A few passes on a fine stone or strop keeps it there.
The 6 inch 15500 is the full size field knife for deer and elk. The 15500-04 pairs stonewashed CPM 154 with a dark olive Santoprene handle and a two-piece Boltaron sheath in orange or gray. The 15500-3 steps up to CPM S45VN on OD green G10 with an orange accent ring. The 15505 Meatcrafter 4 inch trims to a CPM 154 blade sized for small game and for breasting out birds around the breastbone. Our comparison of every major knife steel covers CPM 154 and S45VN.
The 4050 Meatcrafter keeps the upswept 6 inch trailing point and SelectEdge in CPM 154 for portioning, trimming, and deboning at the counter. The 4050-02 comes in satin with G10 and Richlite, and the 4050BK-01 in black DLC with black G10. It pairs naturally with the rest of our Benchmade kitchen knives.
The Meatcrafter is built for red meat and game, with enough spine to work joints. For fish, the Fishcrafter brings the same thinking to thinner, more flexible fillet blades in several lengths. The Meatcrafter itself belongs to Benchmade's Hunt line, which runs through the full Hunt Series.
