Brous Blades is Jason Brous, a California machinist who came to knifemaking sideways. He grew up on the floor of his father's precision machine shop, cutting parts for the medical industry, and by twenty he could hold tolerances most knifemakers only talk about. What he did not have was a knifemaking background, so when he started the company in 2010 he built what he actually liked, which at the time was biomechanical art.
That first design got shredded on the forums. Brous took the beating, kept the artistic signature, and stripped the fantasy out. The result was the Silent Soldier, a stout little neck knife with dual finger holes that turned into a cult object and spawned a whole family of clip points, tantos, and eventually a folding version. Everything after it carried the same DNA. Hard angles, aggressive lines, deliberate machining marks, and a shape you can identify across a display case without reading the tang stamp.
Brous built the catalog around D2, a high carbon high chromium tool steel that runs hard, holds an edge through abusive cutting, and rewards a patient hand on the stones. It is not fully stainless and it will patina if you neglect it, which suits a brand that treats knives as tools with a personality. Handles run 3D milled titanium and machined G-10 depending on the model, and most releases ship serialized as numbered limited runs.
The Parallax is the cleanest thing Brous has drawn. A full titanium frame lock with 3D milled scales and standoff construction, it carries a 3.75 inch hybrid blade profile hollow ground thin behind the edge, driven by an integrated flipper tab. Nine inches open, five closed, five thirty-seconds thick at the spine, made in the USA and numbered one of two hundred fifty. Available here in satin and acid stonewash.
