Cerberus Knives is the work of Chris Ortiz, a one-man shop operating out of Southern California. Everything is small-batch, American-made, and built without compromise in materials or execution.
Ortiz started out making aftermarket scales for popular production knives, earning a reputation for precision machining and quality materials. That foundation—attention to detail, premium composites, tight tolerances—carries through to everything Cerberus produces today: folders, fixed blades, and EDC tools.
The fixed blade lineup leans toward compact, utilitarian designs with clean lines and no unnecessary flourishes. Models like the S.U.S. (Subtle Utility Sheepsfoot) showcase the Cerberus approach: functional blade shapes, premium steels like S90V, Magnacut, and Cruwear with proper heat treatment and cryo cycling, and handle materials machined in-house. These aren't safe queens—they're built to cut.
On the folder side, the Aurelius represents Cerberus at its finest. Titanium frames with micro-milled texturing, high-end blade steels like S60V, and details like glass pivots that you don't typically see at this level. Small batch runs mean these don't sit on shelves for long.
Ortiz's designs have caught the attention of bigger players in the industry. He's collaborated with Artisan Cutlery on the Arion and Satyr folders, and with Jack Wolf Knives on the Tango—their first collaboration series release. These partnerships speak to the respect his work commands in the knife community.
If you're after something different from the usual production fare—made by one guy who controls every step of the process—Cerberus is worth your attention.
