on Orders Over $99The Condor Bushcraft Parang is the parang you reach for when the job is going to mistreat the tool. OD green polypropylene scales and a ballistic nylon sheath, both synthetic, both unapologetic. No walnut to split in cold weather, no leather to mold in the truck bed, no finish to baby. Joe Flowers designed it as a no-nonsense working chopper drawn from traditional Malaysian and Indonesian parang geometry, and Condor executes it at a price point that lets a serious bushcrafter or homesteader run one hard and still own a backup.
The 13-inch 1075 high-carbon blade runs 4.5mm at the spine, full tang, finished natural with satin grinds showing through. That is thicker than most Latin machetes and thinner than Condor's flagship 1/4-inch Parang, landing at the sweet spot where the blade is heavy enough to split green limbs and thin enough to still cut rather than club. The forward-curving parang profile concentrates mass ahead of the grip, loading the swing where it matters most, and the concave cutting edge wedges through wood rather than binding in it. Reviewers running this blade alongside axes report it holds its own on limbs up to wrist-thick, processes firewood with fewer swings than a Latin pattern, and still carves a feather stick when needed. Not bad for a machete that costs less than a tank of diesel.
The green polypropylene handle is molded seam-free with an ergonomic shape that earns honest praise from working owners. It will not crack in the cold, will not soak up moisture, and will not degrade under UV. A lanyard hole anchors a wrist loop for heavy swings. The ballistic nylon belt sheath includes a small accessory pocket on the front — a field-minded detail for a sharpening puck, a ferro rod, or a fire kit — and keeps total weight manageable for all-day carry. For the prepper building a truck kit, the deer camp looking for a woodlot tool, or the bushcrafter who wants a true parang without the premium price tag, this is the one.
