S45VN Axis Lock with Burl G-10 Handles

The MACVSOG Axis Lock Folder is Allen Elishewitz’s folding interpretation of the historic MACV-SOG fixed blade, translating its recognizable design into a completely handmade folding platform. Even the Axis-style locking mechanism is built by Allen himself, including the internal plate and individual components. Every Elishewitz custom is made by Allen himself in his shop using manual machines—no CNC. From machining and fitting to the smallest details, each knife is built with an emphasis on tight tolerances, premium materials, and true hands-on craftsmanship.

Blade

The 3.5" clip point blade is made from S45VN steel at .150" thick with a matte finish. S45VN is a premium powder metallurgy steel that offers strong edge retention, good toughness, and solid corrosion resistance, making it well suited to a hard-use folder that still needs to take a clean, refined edge. The clip point profile gives a fine tip for detail work while keeping a useful belly for slicing.

Handle

Burl G-10 scales give the handle a distinctive look while keeping weight down to just 3.46 ounces. G-10 is a fiberglass laminate that resists moisture and wear, and the burl pattern adds texture and depth not found in standard G-10. A titanium spacer between the scales adds another custom touch to the build.

Carry

The Axis-style lock is a manual mechanism operated by a spring-loaded bar that can be disengaged with either hand, making the knife fully ambidextrous to open and close. The reversible pocket clip can be set up for right- or left-hand tip-up carry, so the knife rides discreetly in the pocket and comes out ready to open.
