Gaskill Knives produces handmade fixed blade knives in Texas, where maker Matthew Gaskill has crafted custom cutlery since 2015 using equipment inherited from his grandfather Dale Wood. Working primarily through stock removal with occasional forging, Gaskill creates EDC fixed blades, kitchen knives, tactical designs, and kukuris with a distinct recognizable style characterized by precise handle contouring and tapered full-tang construction that centers each knife's balance point. The signature Tanner EDC model features a 3.5" drop point blade with 7.5" overall length in CPM-154 or CPM-MagnaCut steel hardened to 63 HRC, utilizing a tapered tang design that reduces rear weight and allows the knife to balance naturally at the choil for controlled handling during detailed cutting tasks. Steel selections span CPM-MagnaCut, CPM-154, CPM-S35VN stainless steels alongside A2 tool steel and 1095 carbon steel, with blade finishes including stonewash treatments and clean satin grinds. Handle materials range from canvas micarta and paper micarta in natural and butterscotch tones to G10 scales with contrasting G10 bolsters and colored liners in combinations like black canvas micarta with blue G10 liners or OD green micarta with orange accents. Tactical models incorporate karambit-inspired finger ring retention features, jimping along spines and choils for grip traction, and ergonomic handle shaping derived from field use testing by outdoorsmen. Blade profiles emphasize thick belly grinds on drop point geometries sized between 3.5" and 5.5" for versatility across camp tasks, food preparation, and general cutting applications. Each knife ships with custom Kydex sheaths designed for horizontal or vertical carry configurations with modular attachment spacing, though some models include leather sheaths with interior Kydex reinforcement for blade protection and retention.
