on Orders Over $99The Griffin 1946 X Series slipjoint in this configuration pairs a blackwashed CPM S90V blade with bronze crystal titanium scales — one of the most visually striking builds in the entire 1946 lineup. It measures 6.5 inches open with a 2.79-inch drop point blade at 0.12 inches thick, and it rides on a ceramic bearing pivot that gives this slipjoint a level of action smoothness you won't find on traditional friction-pivot knives.
S90V is one of the hardest-wearing production steels available — high vanadium, high carbon, and built to hold an edge far longer than most knives will ever need between sharpening. When it does need work, reach for diamond stones or ceramics. The blackwash finish on this blade masks wear and gives it a broken-in character right out of the box. Deployment is manual via nail nick, and the ceramic bearing pivot makes the open and close noticeably smoother than a washer setup.
True slipjoint with a half stop and medium pull. The half stop catches clean, the blade seats with snap, and the walk-and-talk has the kind of deliberate feel that traditional knife collectors look for. No lock means this is legal in jurisdictions where locking folders are restricted — something to keep in mind if you travel.
Crystal titanium isn't a coating. The dendritic grain pattern is created by slow-cooling titanium in a vacuum furnace, forming visible structures in the metal itself. The bronze anodization highlights those structures with a warm metallic tone, and every set of scales looks slightly different because no two grain patterns grow the same way. Titanium bolsters, liners, and T8 titanium hardware throughout. Handle runs 3.71 inches at 0.43 inches thick. Milled titanium clip set for tip-up carry.
