on Orders Over $99The Griffin 1946 X Series slipjoint in carbon fiber is the lightest way to carry this platform. Carbon fiber scales drop weight significantly compared to the brass and titanium configurations while adding a visual contrast against the blackwashed S90V blade that's hard to beat. If you want a 1946 that disappears in the pocket but still delivers the same ceramic bearing action and S90V edge retention, this is the build.
The 2.79-inch CPM S90V drop point comes blackwashed at 0.12 inches thick. S90V is one of those steels that rewards patience — it takes more effort to sharpen than something like S35VN, but the interval between sharpenings makes up for it. For a slipjoint that gets daily pocket time, that edge retention matters. Nail nick deployment on ceramic bearings keeps the action fluid without the gritty feel that traditional slipjoint pivots can develop over time.
Half stop, medium pull, true slipjoint. The walk-and-talk is crisp and the half stop engages with no guesswork. The 1946 gives you a non-locking option that doesn't ask you to downgrade on materials or action quality — which is the usual trade-off with knives built for restricted-carry jurisdictions.
Carbon fiber scales sit over titanium bolsters and liners with T8 titanium hardware throughout. The carbon fiber keeps the knife noticeably lighter in the pocket than the brass or full titanium crystal builds, and the weave pattern plays off the blackwashed blade finish for a blacked-out look without going full DLC. Handle measures 3.71 inches at 0.43 inches thick. Milled titanium clip set for tip-up carry. The 1946 measures 6.5 inches overall.
