The KNAFS Lander 5 is the knife Ben Petersen built to be handed over, not hoarded. The designer behind the Civivi Baby Banter went back to small folders and came out with a deliberate first knife: a 2.2 inch stonewashed blade, 5.4 inches overall, and a price that stings less when a new knife owner inevitably loses it. It is the entry ramp to the entire Lander family.
Instead of the Clutch Lock on its bigger siblings, the Lander 5 runs a sturdy frame lock cut into its cold forged stainless steel handle, opened by a simple thumb hole that new hands learn in seconds. A reversible deep carry clip keeps it low in the pocket, and the short blade keeps it legal in more places than most folders can follow.
The blade is 8Cr14MoV, an honest budget steel that sharpens fast and takes abuse without complaint; our knife steel guide shows where it sits on the ladder. Hand one to a scout, stash one in a work coat, or use it to recruit a new knife person, and when they are ready to graduate, the full KNAFS collection is waiting.
