KNAFS - Knives Made by People Who Actually Know Knives
Utah-based knife company making thoughtfully designed EDC folders and fixed blades. Founded by Ben Petersen and Athena Petersen in 2018. Started in a garage, now running a full operation in Clearfield with a storefront and crew.
They make what they want to carry. You get the benefit of that.
What KNAFS Makes
Lander Series Folders
This is the core KNAFS lineup. The Lander 1 offers either D2 or 14C28N steel paired with G10 or micarta scales—affordable, sturdy, reliable. The Lander 2 is built for demanding jobs: featuring S35VN steel, a clutch lock, and your choice of clip point or tanto blade, with micarta, G10, or printed scales. The Lander 3 refines the formula with S35VN, a clutch lock, and a slimmer profile for ultimate carry comfort. Prefer something compact? The Lander 6 is a tough, small keychain knife.
Fixed Blades
The Lulu series is purpose-built—MagnaCut or A2 steel in standard, large, and small sizes, made to use, not display. The Lander 4 S35VN fixed blade is compact, versatile, and available with several scale options, ready for real work.
Customization
KNAFS offers replacement scales—customize your knife's look and feel in seconds. Additionally, they design EDC pens and accessories for users who want a range of choices.
Materials They Use
KNAFS utilizes high-quality materials, including premium steels such as S35VN, MagnaCut, D2, and 14C28N, as well as durable handle materials like micarta, G10, and aluminum, along with printed or sublimated scales. Most folders feature a clutch lock.
Warranty
Every KNAFS knife comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. That covers cutting, slicing, whittling, dicing, carving, and fidgeting. What it doesn't cover is using your knife as a pry bar, screwdriver, or can opener. You know better.
The Origin Story
Ben Petersen spent 8 years at Blade HQ and CRKT, learning the business and building ideas that didn't fit the mold. In 2018, he and his wife, Athena, stopped wondering and started making.
Their first product was a knife education poster—funded from their savings, which they rolled by hand after the kids' bedtime. It sold well, proving people wanted what they made. That kept them going.
After four years of nights and weekends, Ben went full-time on KNAFS. By 2023, they had transitioned from a garage to a storefront and established a full crew in Clearfield, Utah, where they designed and produced their own knives.
They're not trying to reinvent the wheel. Just making solid knives with good materials, smart designs, and fair prices. The kind of stuff they'd want in their own pockets.
Why KNAFS Exists
Ben Petersen started this because he had ideas that wouldn't shut up. Because he and Athena like making things on their own terms. Because the knife industry has room for more voices.
They're not the biggest. They're not trying to be. They're just here to make knives they'd want to use and see if you want them too.
So far, you do.
