Synthetic Knife Lubricant with Contaminant Encapsulation Technology
KPL has manufactured synthetic knife lubricants in Texas since 2018. Founded by a chemist and engineer, KPL developed fully-synthetic oils for folding knife pivots after a year of research and testing. The proprietary Contaminant Encapsulation Technology keeps dirt, metal particles, and grit suspended in the oil instead of grinding against pivot surfaces. High-pressure film stabilizers prevent metal-on-metal contact under loading stress. Wickability modifiers penetrate tight tolerances in ball bearing systems and washer interfaces.
KPL Original 15WT for Ball Bearings and Bronze Washers
KPL Original uses 15-weight viscosity for general folding knife maintenance. The medium-thickness formula works on ball bearing pivots, phosphor bronze washers, Teflon washers, IKBS caged bearing systems, and MRBS multi-row bearing systems. It is compatible with all knife steels, titanium framelock interfaces, G-10 scales, and Micarta handles. The 10mL bottle includes a 14mm needle applicator with a 0.70mm aperture for precise pivot application. The non-evaporating formula maintains viscosity from -40°F to 400°F without drying or gumming.
KPL Ultra-Light 5WT for OTF and Bearing Knives
Ultra-Light 5-weight oil provides minimum hydraulic resistance for high-speed deployment mechanisms. Designed for out-the-front knives, bearing pivot folders, and button-lock designs where fluid drag affects firing speed. The ultra-flow molecular weight base maintains the same contaminant encapsulation and corrosion inhibitors as Original weight while reducing drag on caged ball bearings. Ideal for Benchmade AXIS locks, Spyderco ball bearing Spydiechef models, and Microtech OTF mechanisms that require fast blade deployment.
KPL Heavy 75WT for Detent Tracks and Balisongs
Heavy 75-weight formula uses thixotropic properties for detent track lubrication. The gel-like consistency stays in place on detent balls and lock bar interfaces rather than migrating during pocket carry. Each lock engagement refluidizes the Heavy formula through shear forces, refreshing lubrication at the detent ball contact point. Washout resistance exceeds lighter weights for balisong butterfly knives, framelock detent tracks, and liner lock interfaces exposed to moisture. The crimson-colored oil shows application coverage on titanium lock bars.
Temperature Stability and Material Compatibility
All KPL formulations operate from -40°F to 400°F without volatility or flammability below the upper temperature limit. Compatible with ceramic ball bearings, nylon Nylatron washers, bronze phosphor washers, Teflon PTFE washers, and titanium pivot collars. The synthetic base resists oxidation that causes mineral oils to thicken over time. Corrosion inhibitors protect CPM steels, Damascus blades, and carbon steel folders during storage. The needle applicator bottle prevents contamination from ambient dust entering the lubricant reservoir.
