The Gringo is Kunwu's heavy hitter: a full-size folder built around a 3.66 inch harpoon drop point and the contoured, Honeydew textured scales that have become a Kunwu Knives signature. Between its steel options and its lock options, it covers more ground than any other single pattern in the wider Kunwu stable.
Kunwu Gringo Models
Two builds define the family. The titanium frame lock version runs Böhler S390, a high-speed steel hardened to 62 to 64 HRC that holds an edge longer than nearly anything else in production folders and makes the Gringo a genuine specialty steel pick. The Gringo Verta Lock builds move to Elmax at 60 to 62 HRC and open up the handle roster: carbon fiber at a trim 4.6 ounces, orange peel and Honeydew textured titanium, full PVD black, and blue and black G-Mascus. How Does the Kunwu Verta Lock Work
Like a compression lock run from the spine. A milled tab on the back of the handle releases the blade while your fingers never enter the edge's path, it works identically from either hand, and it drops shut with the smoothness Kunwu tunes into everything it ships. The same mechanism anchors the Kunwu Excalibur family if the Gringo's footprint runs larger than you need.
