Kunwu Padre
Ask any Kunwu owner which design put the brand on the map and the answer is the Padre. The front flipper that built Kunwu Knives' reputation stacks a 3.5 inch Vanax clip point over diamond textured titanium with a Timascus pivot collar, 8.03 inches overall with room for a genuine four-finger grip, and it has since grown into a three-model family within the full Kunwu lineup.
Padre, X-Padre and Poon Padre
The original Padre keeps the sculpted titanium frame lock and nitrogen-alloyed Vanax SuperClean blade that earned the following. The X-Padre converts that same hefty frame to the XT Lock, Kunwu's ambidextrous crossbar, running a 3.34 inch Elmax clip point with a thumb hole opener and a swappable deep carry clip. The Poon Padre is the enthusiast's cut: CPM S90V hardened to 60 to 62 HRC on a harpoon-spined blade over contoured scales, and a frame distinct enough that even the Timascus backspacers refuse to interchange between the three.
What Is the Difference Between the Kunwu Padre and X-Padre
The lock, primarily. The Padre secures with a classic titanium frame lock while the X-Padre runs the crossbar-style XT Lock, keeping your fingers clear of the edge on closing and working identically from either hand. The steel changes with it, Vanax on the original and Elmax on the X, both at 60 to 62 HRC and close enough in daily performance that the pick comes down to mechanism preference.
