Microtech Exocet
The Microtech Exocet is the strangest idea in the catalog and one of the most practical: a money clip that fires. Introduced as the star of Microtech's 2019 lineup and billed as the first of its kind, it hides a 1.98-inch OTF blade inside a broad, flat chassis built to hold your bills and cards, with the blade deliberately kept under the two-inch mark. It went on to serve as the official Blade Show 2020 knife.
At 3 ounces of mil-spec anodized 6061-T6 aluminum, it is also, by Microtech's own account, one of the fastest and easiest-firing OTFs in the Microtech lineup, and like the rest of it, the Exocet is machined in the USA.
Exocet Money Clip Design
This is genuine dual-mission engineering rather than a gimmick. The wide stainless clip is shaped for a fold of bills or a few cards, the chassis is broad and flat enough to ride like a wallet, and a lanyard hole rounds out the package. For people trying to consolidate what they carry, the Exocet replaces two pocket items with one, and the party trick of deploying a dagger from your money clip never really gets old.
Exocet vs Exocet II
The Exocet II arrived in 2026 with a longer 2.3-inch double-edge dagger in Bohler M390MK, a slightly larger frame, a milled money clip, and the Dual Fuel drivetrain and Crud Kutter switch from Microtech's current flagships. The trade is simple: the II buys real reach and utility, while the original keeps the sub-two-inch blade that makes it the pick anywhere that measurement matters. Both carry the same way, so the choice comes down to whether that extra third of an inch works for you or against you.
Exocet Blade Styles and Steels
The original runs in double-edge dagger and tanto configurations, with plain and serrated edges, violet and red handles, and standouts like the all-white ST editions and the distressed Bounty Hunter.
