Piratech is Pirate plus Tech: rebellion and exploration bolted to precision engineering. Founded by Damon Huang and partner Kay, veterans of the Kizer team who struck out on their own from an apartment, the brand shipped its first 200 Kráki folders in October 2023 with every knife assembled, inspected, and packed by the founders personally, and five months after starting was invited to Blade Show Atlanta, where it has returned every year since. The flag carries a Kraken because, as Damon puts it, the real power is putting the thing you fear on the flag so you conquer it every day. The motto underneath: Seek Different.
The Kráki, briefly known as the Kraken and Tsunami before settling into its name, is built around Piratech's patented MagSnap system: precision magnets hold the handle scales in place, so they swap tool-free in seconds with no screws, no rattle, and a completely clean face. The 3.22 inch CPM S90V sheepsfoot runs a thin 2.8mm flat grind for genuine slicing, deployed on a crossbar lock sprung with piano wire rather than the usual omega springs for durability and a strangely satisfying snap, with a hidden-screw deep-carry clip that reverses without disassembly. A Kraken-head thumbstud and hand satin or DLC finishes complete one of the most original folding knives of its generation.
The Saga stretches the concept to a 3.57 inch S90V clip point framelock with MagSnap inlays in materials like Richlite, while the Slippy Kráki reimagines the slipjoint with modern tension engineering and the Kraki Lite opens the door in S30V with dragon scale G-10.
