The Reate VK-ANUB opens the Vulpex side of the catalog, the VK line Reate builds in collaboration with Vulpex Knives and designer Steven Kempa. It's a 3.15-inch Elmax framelock at just 3.35 ounces, the lightest full-titanium frame lock in Reate's current lineup here, and every one of its five builds runs dark.
The blade is Bohler Elmax on 0.134-inch stock, the balanced powder stainless that pairs strong edge retention with toughness and easy maintenance, exactly right for a knife this light that's meant to be carried daily. Lockup is a titanium frame lock, and unlike most of Reate's right-hand-only catalog the VK-ANUB carries a reversible tip-up clip, making it one of the few genuinely ambidextrous options the maker offers.
The ANUB's palette stays on theme across the grid: a hand rubbed blade over bead blasted titanium as the brightest option, black DLC over dark bronze, darkwashed over crystalized gray, a dark bead blasted blade over blue cyan anodizing, and a full darkwashed build where blade and frame wear the same shadowed finish. No inlays and no bolsters here, just machined titanium and blade finish doing the talking.
Reate's two light Elmax framelocks split on personality. The Reate Velocity runs 3.25 inches at 4.1 ounces with sport-milled holes through the frame, the fast-looking one, while the VK-ANUB trims to 3.15 inches and 3.35 ounces, goes dark, and adds the reversible clip. Same steel and same lock architecture: pick the Velocity for the machining show, the VK-ANUB for the Kempa lines and the lightest carry in the frame lock stable.
