Southern Grind started in 2010 when Grammy-winning artist and knife enthusiast Zac Brown began building knives in his Peachtree City, Georgia metal shop. The goal was straightforward: create American-made knives using premium materials and meticulous hand assembly. Every Southern Grind knife is machined and assembled in the United States with blade beveling done in-house.
The Spider Monkey is the brand's flagship folder — a 3.25" liner lock built for hard daily carry. Current production runs CPM-MagnaCut blades, offering the edge retention and corrosion resistance that makes MagnaCut one of the most sought-after steels in the knife industry. The Penguin delivers a full titanium frame with an S90V blade for collectors wanting premium materials in a refined package.
After more than a decade of production, Southern Grind now operates under Diamondback Knife Works in Florida while maintaining the same quality standards and warranty support. Designer Neil Kamimura continues developing new models under Brown's original vision of rugged dependability paired with modern steel technology.
