A pioneer of modern custom knifemaking, Horn was one of Sal Glesser's early mentors, and handling his handcrafted gentleman's folders in the 1970s helped inspire Glesser to found Spyderco. Horn's C38 collaboration ran in limited numbers around the turn of the millennium and has been out of production for years. Now it returns as a distributor exclusive, brought back with a pair of meaningful upgrades that push the design further than ever.

Where the original wore FRN scales and AUS-8, this version steps things up considerably. The 3.19" modified clip point blade is now full flat ground CPM Cru-Wear, a premium tool steel that holds a keen edge while staying tough enough to shrug off hard use, finished in a clean satin that suits the knife's refined character. A subtle swedge runs along the spine, lightening the profile visually while keeping a strong tip. The handles have been remade in carbon fiber, lending the knife the same understated elegance Horn built his reputation on.

Deployment and lockup come courtesy of Horn's signature lockback, a spine-mounted latch that snaps the blade open and releases with rearward pressure, paired with the fully accessible Round Hole. The pocket clip is set for right-hand, tip-up carry. Like the original, it's made in Japan to Spyderco's exacting standards.
