Spyderco has long been an industry leader in the use of exotic, high performance blade steels, and after years of using the best materials the world's leading steel makers could provide, they decided it was time to create their own. Working closely with Crucible Industries, Spyderco developed CPM SPY27, a powdered stainless steel with a proprietary mix of alloys including vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, nitrogen, and cobalt. Produced exclusively for Spyderco, it forms the heart of this elite version of the Para 3 Lightweight.

The three inch full flat ground blade capitalizes on SPY27's unique properties to deliver an exceptional balance of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance, a well rounded steel that performs across the board. It's paired with an ultra lightweight fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) handle injection molded in a distinctive cobalt blue, one of the signature colors of the SPY27 family, so the knife wears its premium steel right on the outside. A non slip Bi-Directional Texture pattern gives you a secure grip in any conditions.

Inside, the streamlined Compression Lock holds the blade securely open in use while letting you close it easily with one hand, and the linerless open backed construction keeps the weight to an absolute minimum. A reversible deep pocket wire clip rounds out the design, providing discreet tip up carry on either side.
