Tactile Turn Pencils
Tactile Turn's Pencils carry the same bolt action character as the brand's pen lineup, applied to a mechanical pencil platform built around a German-made Schmidt internal. Designed by Will Hodges and machined in the USA, the Pencil runs a slim 0.365 inch body, side-mounted bolt to advance and retract the lead, and a friction-fit eraser on the back. It is the writing companion to the Slim Bolt Action Pen and shares the same clip system, texture, and lifetime warranty.
Bolt Action Mechanical Pencil Mechanism
The bolt rides in a side channel on the pencil body and operates the lead advance with the same satisfying action as the Bolt Action pen. Tactile Turn machines the bolt on a 6-32 thread pitch and pairs it with a Schmidt DSM2006 internal mechanism, which is the same component used in higher-end German mechanical pencils. The result is a smooth, repeatable lead advance with the fit and finish the brand's pen lineup is known for.
0.5mm and 0.7mm Lead Compatibility
Each Pencil ships in either 0.5mm or 0.7mm lead. The 0.5mm runs finer for technical drawing, drafting, and detail work. The 0.7mm leans toward general note-taking and writing under load without the breakage risk that the 0.5mm carries in heavier metal-bodied pencils. Each pencil includes a starter pack of HB lead and three friction-fit replacement erasers. The internal mechanism is replaceable, and the lead size can be changed by swapping the Schmidt component.
Material Options Across the Pencil Lineup
The Pencil is offered in titanium, copper, bronze, and zirconium, with the same material characteristics that run through the brand's pen lineup. Titanium is the lightest and most corrosion resistant. Copper develops a darker patina with use. Bronze trends toward a deeper brown over time. Zirconium sits at the top of the lineup as the densest and hardest of the four. Premium variants pair the bronze body with a titanium bolt or the zirconium body with a zirconium bolt for a contrasted material treatment.
Slim Body and Milled Clip
The Pencil shares the slim 0.365 inch diameter body and milled clip system with the Slim Bolt Action and Slim Side Click pens. The clip is updated for deeper pocket carry, and the friction fit eraser on the back is replaceable through a three-pack accessory sold separately. For users carrying both a pen and pencil from the brand, the Slim platform keeps the visual and ergonomic profile consistent across the full writing kit.
