Alabama Damascus San Mai Fixed Blade with Ooisk Handle

W.A. Surls is a custom knifemaker known for handcrafted blades with distinctive Damascus patterns. This custom Fighter model combines traditional bowie styling with premium materials. Each knife is individually forged and finished by the maker, resulting in unique variations in the Damascus pattern.

Blade

The 7.5" bowie blade uses Alabama Damascus San Mai steel. San Mai construction consists of a high-carbon core sandwiched between layers of softer stainless steel, creating a durable blade that resists chipping while taking a fine edge. The Damascus cladding creates dramatic layered patterns through the forging process. At 0.120" thick, the blade balances strength with controlled weight for a 13.25" overall length.

Handle

Ooisk handles are made from stabilized burl wood, providing a durable and attractive grip. The copper guard adds a contrasting accent while protecting the hand during use. The full tang construction ensures structural integrity for hard use.

Carry

This is a fixed blade with no lock mechanism - the blade and handle are one continuous piece of steel. The substantial 15.03oz weight makes it a capable chopping tool while the bowie profile offers piercing capability.
