The WE High Fin is custom maker Michal Gavac's Gavko design language brought to production with almost nothing softened. Gavac came to America from Slovakia and started out modding production knives before his organic, sculpted style made his customs hard to get. WE Knife Company released the original High Fin in late 2022 and followed it with the larger High Fin XL, which is the version we currently stock.
The blade is what people notice first: a reverse tanto that finishes in a harpoon tip, with a high, deep hollow grind that slices far better than its aggressive look suggests. It rides caged ceramic bearings and deploys off thumb studs, and a forward finger choil lets you choke up for close cuts.
The High Fin XL runs a 3.48 inch blade in CPM 20CV on 0.13 inch stock, 8.15 inches open and 4.67 inches closed, locked up by a titanium frame lock. 20CV is a high chromium powder steel known for long edge retention and strong stain resistance, and our guide to every major knife steel shows where it ranks. The titanium clip carries right hand tip up.
The original High Fin carried a 2.98 inch blade at 6.98 inches overall and 3.49 ounces. The XL adds half an inch of blade and more handle for bigger hands, yet keeps the same thickness in the pocket. WE mills out the inside of the scales, so the XL weighs 4.03 ounces, only about half an ounce more than the smaller knife.
The XL's 6AL4V titanium scales wear a micro diamond texture inspired by shark skin, which looks sharp and adds real grip. Choose black titanium with a black stonewashed blade, blurple titanium with a stonewashed blade, or polished gold or polished gray titanium with polished and hand rubbed satin blades.
