The WE Vision R is one of the knives that put Snecx Tan's Superlock on the map, built by WE Knife Company as its second collaboration with the designer. It pairs a 3.54 inch CPM 20CV reverse tanto with a milled titanium handle and a spine mounted lock that works like no conventional folder, all at 3.63 ounces.
The Superlock is a lock bar that runs along the top of the handle. When the blade opens, the bar slides into place behind it for a solid lockup, and pulling it back releases the blade to close. Because the control sits on the spine instead of one side of the handle, the Vision R works the same in either hand, and the way the bar moves makes it one of the most satisfying locks to fidget with. The compact WE Tyro uses a refined version of the same lock on a sub 3 inch blade.
The blade is a flat ground reverse tanto in CPM 20CV at 59 to 61 HRC, 0.12 inches thick, and it opens through a thumb hole on caged ceramic ball bearings. The reverse tanto gives a long straight edge and a strong, controllable point, a good match for everyday cutting. 20CV is a high vanadium powder steel with excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance, and our knife steel comparison shows how it measures up.
The handle is skeletonized 6AL4V titanium with titanium screws and a stainless back spacer, machined into the futuristic lines Snecx designs are known for. The titanium clip mounts for tip up carry on either side, which, along with the spine mounted lock and symmetrical thumb hole, makes the Vision R a true left or right hand knife. It measures 7.95 inches open, 4.45 inches closed, and 0.44 inches thick.
Every Vision R shares the same blade, lock, and frame, so the choice comes down to color. The black titanium version with a black stonewashed blade is the stealthiest of the group. Blue titanium over a bead blasted blade is the brightest, and bronze titanium with a black stonewashed blade gives the warmest contrast. All three carry the same Superlock action that made this design a modern classic.
