The White River Model 1 is the flagship knife from White River Knife & Tool and an excellent multi-purpose design. Made in the USA in Fremont, Michigan, the M1 is just the right size for the hunt or for everyday carry, and a large, high finger choil gives you incredible control with plenty of power behind every cut.
Every M1 runs a 3 inch blade on .130 inch stock, 7 inches overall at about 3.2 ounces. That is enough edge for just about anything an average day throws at you, and the deep finger choil lets you choke up for fine work without losing grip. Blades come stonewashed or with a black coated finish.
The M1 Backpacker Pro wears bolt-on textured G10 scales in black, orange, hi-vis, and green and orange, with scale kits sold separately for swapping later. The M1 Caper uses Micarta with flared hollow pins. The M1 Skinner pairs the Pro handle with a fat belly blade and jimping for control on game, and the original M1 Backpacker comes with a paracord-wrapped handle.
The M1 comes in CPM S35VN at 59 to 60 Rc or CPM MagnaCut at 63 to 64 Rc, which adds edge retention and corrosion resistance for heavier field use. Either steel takes a keen edge and holds up to daily carry and a full hunting season. Our comparison of every major knife steel lays out the difference.
Every Model 1 ships with an adjustable Kydex sheath for carry in several positions, and a separate Model 1 leather sheath is available for anyone who prefers leather. It is guaranteed for life with free sharpening. For a dedicated game knife, compare the White River Hunter, or browse our hunting knives.
