The stones remove metal quickly due to their coarse diamond abrasive, so they require a careful, light touch to avoid taking off more material than intended. They are not recommended for general sharpening use or for users newer to the Wicked Edge system.

Each stone needs a break-in period of roughly 20 sharpening sessions before performance stabilizes, and with proper care they typically last around 700 sharpenings. Diamond abrasive holds up well over repeated use compared to traditional stones, since it doesn't wear down or glaze over as quickly.
