The Hisshou is Williams Blade Design's largest build to date, a 13" wakizashi-style fixed blade hand built in North Carolina by Primitive Woodsman. This is a limited run of 75 pieces, each featuring a custom Hisshou (??) kanji from Shodo artist Koshin in the cursive Gyosho style. Built for collectors and serious users who want a large-format blade with real craftsmanship behind it.
Blade
The 13" blade is Shobu Zukuri in profile, forged from 80CrV2 at a substantial 0.250" thickness. 80CrV2 is a high-carbon steel prized for toughness and shock resistance, able to take hard use without chipping while still sharpening up easily in the field. The blackwash finish mutes the blade's surface and adds a layer of corrosion resistance while giving it a worn, battle-ready look.
Handle
The 5" handle is wrapped in burlap Micarta, a composite made from burlap fabric layers set in resin under pressure. Micarta is dense, stable in changing temperatures and humidity, and develops a slightly textured grip over time. Overall weight comes in at 19.01oz, giving the knife substantial presence without being unwieldy.
Carry
The Hisshou ships with a form-fitted Kydex sheath for secure, rattle-free carry. Kydex is a rigid thermoplastic that holds its shape and resists wear far better than leather, with retention that doesn't loosen over time.
Made in the USA.
