The Hisshou is the first release in a limited custom series from Williams Blade Design, built around a classic Shobu Zukuri wakizashi silhouette. Hand built in North Carolina by Primitive Woodsman, this piece brings together Baker Forge steel and Fat Carbon handle material in a one-of-one build, featuring a custom Hisshou kanji from Shodo artist Koshin rendered in Gyosho cursive style.
Blade
The 13" blade is forged by Baker Forge using their Dark Mai construction, a San Mai layup combining 80CrV2 carbon steel with a copper layer running through the spine. 80CrV2 is prized for its toughness and ability to take a fine edge, while the copper layer adds a distinct visual line without compromising the cutting core. The blade carries a raw finish at 0.250" thick and follows the traditional Shobu Zukuri geometry, a single-edged shape with a reinforced tip.
Handle
The 5" handle is wrapped in Copper Camo carbon fiber from Fat Carbon, one of their stronger carbon fiber offerings. Carbon fiber is a woven composite material valued for being lightweight yet extremely rigid, and the copper-toned camo pattern complements the copper line in the blade. Overall weight comes in at 19.19oz.
Carry
The Hisshou ships with a combination Kydex and leather sheath, pairing the structure and retention of Kydex with the traditional look and feel of leather. As a fixed blade, there is no lock mechanism - the full-length tang and sheath fit provide security for carry.
Made in the USA.
