The Work Tuff Gear Ares-C is a large chopper built for heavy field work, sitting somewhere between a knife and an axe. It is designed specifically for batoning, chopping, and other hard-use camp tasks that would damage lighter blades.

Blade

The 9.25" blade is SK85 carbon steel finished with a rugged copper wash, at a thick .267" spine. SK85 is a high-carbon steel that offers excellent edge retention and toughness, making it well suited to repeated impact work. The copper wash finish adds a layer of corrosion resistance while giving each blade a distressed, worn-in look. The chopper blade style features a steep saber grind and a step up on the spine for added striking surface, with a broad belly that runs into the tip for strength during batoning.

Handle

The handle is G-10, a fiberglass laminate known for being tough, stable in wet conditions, and resistant to cracking. At 38oz overall, this is a substantial knife with the weight and momentum needed for chopping through wood.

Carry

The Ares-C ships with a black Kydex sheath. Kydex is a rigid thermoplastic that holds its shape and offers secure, consistent retention without the maintenance leather requires. With an overall length of 16.1", this knife is best carried on a belt, in a pack, or stored in a vehicle for field-ready access.
