SK85 Fixed Blade with G-10 Handles

The Work Tuff Gear Ares-NC is a heavy-duty chopper built to bridge the gap between axe and knife. With a 9.25" blade and 38oz of weight behind it, this is a tool designed for batoning, chopping, and hard fieldwork where a standard fixed blade falls short.

Blade

The 9.25" blade is ground from SK85 carbon steel at a substantial 0.267" thick, finished in the Rugged Devil APO coating. SK85 is a high-carbon steel valued for toughness and its ability to hold a working edge through repeated impact, making it well suited to chopping tasks. The chopper blade style features a steep saber grind and a broad belly that runs straight into the spine, giving the tip strength while still delivering the deep bite needed for batoning. A step-up on the spine adds extra striking area for baton work.

Handle

The handle is built from G-10, a fiberglass laminate that holds up to moisture and rough handling without degrading. At 6.85" long, it provides ample real estate for a secure grip during chopping and two-handed use.

Carry

The Ares-NC ships with a black Kydex sheath, offering a rigid, weather-resistant carry option that protects the blade edge during transport. No lock mechanism applies here since this is a full fixed blade knife.
