SKS51 Fixed Blade with Micarta Handles

The Work Tuff Gear Bear Claw Gen 2 is a large camp and survival knife built for heavy-duty field tasks. With over 15 inches of overall length, this is a serious chopping and batoning tool for users who need a substantial blade in the backcountry.

Blade

The 10.7" drop point blade is made from SKS51 steel at a thick 0.263", finished with a dark wash. SKS51 is a tough carbon steel that resists chipping under hard impact, making it well suited for chopping and splitting wood. The dark washed finish helps mask patina and adds a measure of corrosion resistance compared to a bare polished blade.

Handle

The handle uses black burlap canvas Micarta, a composite made by compressing layers of canvas fabric with resin under heat and pressure. This construction gives it a grippy, textured surface that holds up well in wet or sweaty conditions. At 26.1oz total weight, this knife has the heft needed for chopping tasks.

Carry

The Bear Claw Gen 2 ships with a black Kydex sheath, a rigid polymer that offers solid blade retention and resists moisture and abrasion. As a fixed blade, there is no lock mechanism - the full tang construction provides the strength this knife needs for hard use. The sheath is designed for secure belt or strap carry in the field.
