The Bear Claw Gen 2 from Work Tuff Gear is a large camp knife built for chopping, batoning, and general bushcraft work. It builds on the Kodiak design with a finger choil, a base groove for detailed cutting control, and a partial false edge along the spine for added versatility. This is a serious outdoor tool for anyone who needs a single knife to handle heavy field tasks.
Blade
The 10.7" drop point blade is made from SKS51 steel with a dark washed finish at 0.263" thick. SKS51 is a tough carbon steel that holds up well to repeated impact and heavy use, and the dark wash finish helps resist corrosion while hiding scratches and patina from field use. The drop point profile and substantial length make this blade well suited to chopping, feather sticking, and processing firewood.
Handle
The handle is made from Micarta, a resin-impregnated linen or canvas material known for its durability and secure grip, especially in wet conditions. At 4.4" long, the handle design allows users to choke up into a forward grip for more controlled, precision work when needed. Total knife weight is 26.1oz, giving it the heft needed for hard chopping sessions.
Carry
The Bear Claw ships with an OD Green Kydex sheath, offering solid retention and quick-draw access. Kydex is a rigid, weather-resistant polymer that holds up to repeated use in harsh outdoor conditions. As a fixed blade, there is no lock mechanism - the full construction relies on a solid, one-piece design for reliability in the field.
