The Bear Claw Gen 2 from Work Tuff Gear is a large camp knife built for heavy outdoor work like chopping, trail clearing, and firewood processing. With a 10.7" blade, it functions as a one-tool solution for extended trips where a hatchet and knife would otherwise both be needed. A finger choil and blade groove near the base add control for detail work, while a partial false edge on the spine increases versatility for tasks like carving feather sticks.
Blade
The drop point blade runs 10.7" long and .263" thick, made from SKS51 steel with a dark washed finish. SKS51 is a tough carbon steel that holds up well under repeated impact, making it suited to chopping and batoning without chipping. The dark wash finish helps resist corrosion and cuts down on glare in the field.
Handle
The handle is built from Micarta, a resin-impregnated linen or canvas material known for its durability and secure grip even when wet. At 4.4" long, the handle allows users to choke up into a forward grip for more control during precision cuts, shifting balance away from the standard chopping grip. Overall weight comes in at 26.1oz, giving the blade enough momentum for demanding chopping sessions.
Carry
The Bear Claw ships with a black Kydex sheath, a rigid polymer that offers reliable retention and resists moisture and wear better than leather. The sheath is designed for secure belt or harness carry, keeping the large blade accessible but protected during transport.
