SK85 Fixed Blade with Micarta Handles

The V-44B from Work Tuff Gear is a large bowie built for serious field use, combining a long, heavy blade with a secure Kydex carry system. This is a knife for users who want substantial size and chopping power in a fixed blade.

Blade

The 9.15" bowie blade is made from SK85 high-carbon steel, finished with a rugged copper wash. SK85 is a carbon steel valued for its toughness and ability to hold a keen edge, making it well-suited to chopping and heavy cutting tasks. The copper wash finish adds some corrosion resistance while giving the blade a worn, rugged look that also helps hide scratches from field use. At 0.189" thick, the blade has the backbone needed for harder use without flexing.

Handle

The handle is wrapped in brown burlap canvas Micarta, a material made from layers of canvas fabric fused with resin under heat and pressure. Micarta is prized for its durability and grip, even when wet, and develops a unique texture and patina with use. At 23.6oz overall, this knife has real heft that suits its bowie profile and chopping duty.

Carry

The V-44B ships with a black Kydex sheath, a rigid polymer material that offers reliable retention and resists moisture and wear far better than leather. The sheath is built for belt carry, keeping this large bowie secure and accessible in the field.
