SK85 Fixed Blade with Micarta Handles

The Work Tuff Gear V44X is a large Bowie built for those who want a modern take on the legendary Marine Raider knives of World War II. Inspired by the V44 carried by the 2nd Raider Battalion under Lt. Colonel Carlson, this knife is sized for serious field work, bushcraft, and heavy outdoor tasks where a smaller blade won't cut it.

Blade

The 10" Bowie blade is forged from SK85 carbon steel at a substantial 0.216" thick, finished with a rugged copper wash. SK85 is a high-carbon steel that takes an aggressive edge and holds up well under hard use, with good toughness for chopping and heavy cutting. A wide fuller runs along the spine, referencing the original double-fuller Raider design while cutting down on overall weight without sacrificing blade presence.

Handle

The handle is wrapped in OD Green burlap canvas Micarta, a resin-impregnated fabric material known for its durability and secure grip even when wet. At 29.5oz, the V44X has substantial heft that suits its role as a large fighting and utility Bowie, with a 6.2" handle giving plenty of room for a full grip.

Carry

The V44X ships with an OD Green Kydex sheath, offering a rigid, low-maintenance carry option that protects the long blade and allows for a variety of belt or rig attachments. As a fixed blade, there's no lock to worry about - the full-length construction is built for reliability under hard use.
