Bark River built this Drake custom around ranger green G-10 and gray liners—a subdued combination that works in the field without drawing attention. G-10 earns its place on hard-use knives for good reason: the fiberglass laminate shrugs off moisture, temperature swings, and impact that would crack natural handle materials. It also provides consistent grip texture wet or dry.

The flat grind on this 4.75" blade creates a different cutting character than convex geometry. The edge bevels meet at a more acute angle, delivering aggressive slicing performance and easier field sharpening when you're working with basic stones. CPM Cru-Wear backs up that geometry with the toughness to handle thin edges without chipping—a combination of vanadium, tungsten, and molybdenum carbides that puts it among the most balanced tool steels available. Edge retention runs close to CPM M4 while toughness exceeds it, and the 7.5% chromium content provides reasonable corrosion resistance for a non-stainless steel.
