Item: 173BK
The Benchmade 173BK Mini SOCP takes the original SOCP dagger and shortens the blade for concealed carry, keeping the same handle, finger ring, and double edge profile. Benchmade built it with Greg Thompson, the combatives instructor behind the Special Operations Combatives Program, and reworked the sheath clip based on feedback from special operations personnel. It is a compact, dependable backup for military, law enforcement, and anyone who wants a self-defense blade that stays out of sight. It is part of Benchmade's Black Class and made in the USA.
The 2.22 inch double edge dagger is cut from a single piece of 440C stainless at 58 to 60 HRC on thick .175 inch stock, with a black Cerakote finish that cuts glare. 440C resists corrosion, holds a working edge, and sharpens easily, a practical choice for a blade carried close to the body. Our comparison of every major knife steel explains where 440C fits.
The skeletonized 440C handle is the same one used on the full size SOCP, 4.03 inches long with finger grooves on both sides and the signature finger ring. With a finger through the ring, the knife stays indexed in your hand even with your grip open, so you can work a light, radio, or door and go straight back to the blade. It weighs 3 ounces.
The injection molded sheath carries an updated deep carry clip with J hooks that grab MOLLE webbing, pocket seams, and waistbands for secure retention when you draw. It rides tip down, and the included leather pad lets it sit comfortably inside the waistband. Paracord is included for lashing it to gear.
