Benchmade SOCP
The Benchmade SOCP line came straight out of real operator training. SOCP stands for Special Operations Combatives Program, the post-9/11 hand-to-hand system developed by combatives instructor Greg Thompson. He designed the knives to fill one specific need: a blade that could be drawn, used at close range, and kept in the hand through a transition to a firearm. The result is a family of skeletonized fixed blades with an integrated finger ring, made in the USA by Benchmade and carried by military and law enforcement professionals worldwide.
Why the SOCP Finger Ring Matters
With a finger through the ring, the knife stays in your hand even when you open your grip. That lets you work a weapon, a radio, or a door and bring the blade straight back into use without drawing again. Injection molded sheaths cover the blade up to the ring for positive retention while moving and leave the ring exposed for a fast draw with either hand.
SOCP 176 Dagger and Mini SOCP
The 176 is the original: a 3.22 inch double edge 440C dagger, 7.25 inches overall and just 2.12 ounces, built to ride on a plate carrier, chest rig, or belt. The 173BK Mini SOCP shrinks the dagger to a 2.22 inch blade for concealed carry. The 177BK Mini swaps to a single edge spear point, and the 177 Mini Dagger goes smallest of all, a 1.66 inch spear point at 1.81 ounces in Tungsten, Olive Drab, or Desert Sand Cerakote.
SOCP 185 Fixed Blade in CPM 3V
The 185 scales the concept up to an 11.74 inch fixed blade with a 7.11 inch double edge dagger in CPM 3V, a tool steel with far more toughness and impact resistance than 440C, on a G10 handle at 5.78 ounces. It comes plain or partially serrated. It sits alongside the rest of our Benchmade fixed blade knives.
SOCP Trainers and the 179 Rescue Tool
Training with a live blade is how people get cut, so SOCP includes dull trainers. The 185T mirrors the big fixed blade, and the 176 Combo sets pair the live dagger with its matching trainer. The 179GRY keeps the finger ring but trades the dagger for a 440C rescue hook, a carbide glass breaker, and an oxygen tank wrench, a tool for first responders that sits with our Benchmade rescue knives.
